English, French and German Playgroups in Rome
Playgroups for bilingual children up to 6 years old are starting in January in San Saba and in San Giovanni. To register, or to ask any questions, you can contact Bilingue per Gioco at 320 1156419 or bilinguepergioco@yahoo.com.
Are you worried your children won’t speak your language?
You are not alone, most parents of bilingual children do worry about their children speaking only the majority language, and indeed it is not uncommon for a bilingual child to do so, Bilingue per Gioco’s playgroups will help your children speak English and grow up bilingual in a fun, relaxing way that puts the child-parent relationship first. The playgroups have been designed keeping in mind that in order to speak a language children need to:
- perceive that speaking the language is necessary in order to be understood
- associate the language to a social context
- associate the language to pleasant experiences and particularly to playing with other children
- have lots of exposure to the second language from multiple input points
Bilingue per Gioco’s Playgroups motivate bilingual children to speak…
Bilingue Per Gioco’s Playgroups address both children’s and parents’ motivation, giving you and your children the tools and the opportunities to make the most of your bilingualism. The Playgroups are only for bilingual children and families and create a context in which:
- the second language is the only language spoken, hence children perceive that it is truly necessary to speak it to communicate
- the language is associated to play, fun and other children. It’s not just an adults’ language, spoken by mum or dad, but a children’s language
- you and your children will find time and place to play together, with no distractions
- you’ll find opportunities to share experiences and tricks about raising bilingual children with other parents, this will help you stay motivated and consistent in your approach
… and have long term impact on bilingualism
Through the Playgroups and Bilingue Per Gioco you’ll find a way to ask questions and share tips. Your doubts will change and evolve as children grow up and Bilingue per Gioco will help you face all the different stages. Playgroups are for preschooler, up to 6, and later more activities will be added for older children. The Playgroups are organized with working mothers in mind, in the afternoon or on Saturday, to give all children, and parents, the opportunity to participate. Bilingualism is a long journey, Bilingue per Gioco gives you a chance to share it with other families.
